Spelling and English
The first day of the school week your child will copy the spelling list. It will be stapled on top of their papers sent home that day. They will be tested on the words the last school day of the week. The spelling test is given in two parts with a separate grade recorded for each section. The first part has the words for that week in a list form. The second section is made up of dictation sentences that contain all of the current week’s words plus words from previous lessons. Words that are often missed will be constantly recycled into the sentences until the class masters those words. They will not be given the sentences in advance. Daily Oral Language (D.O.L.) tests are on the last school day of the week. Your child will take D.O.L. papers home every day that apply to the test.
